Corona Virus Updates

Be assured that Piel Canela Dance School is very aware and concerned for the safety of our students, instructors and staff.  We do not want to add to any unnecessary stress or hysteria, but we do have to be preventive.  We will keep everyone as up to date as possible to ensure your safety and well being.

Studio Classes are canceled until further notice,
but we're taking it day by day as NY un-PAUSES

As information comes in, it will help us determine the next steps to take

Effective Wed, March 11, we began limiting our classes
We have canceled our Social for Friday, March 13 and all events in March
Performance Class Rehearsals are canceled from March 13 - 30

Events at SOBs for March 13 & 20 have been canceled

Beginning of March, Pearl Studios was notified of our concern with the impending spread of the Corona Virus. Pearl took "steps to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.  Our entire facility is disinfected prior to opening each day.  Our bathrooms are regularly cleaned and disinfected throughout the day.  We have added additional cleanings of frequently touched surfaces in our facility, such as elevator buttons and doorknobs with disinfectant.  We also encourage frequent hand-washing and provide hand sanitizer at the front desk on each floor.  Our staff has been encouraged to stay home and rest should they not feel well."

During the first week of March:
we informed our instructors to take "
everyday preventative actions, such as strict hand washing and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer to help stop the spread of germs"

we were being limited in our purchases of hand sanitizers so "Since no one can find Hand Sanitizer products, we have diluted alcohol into spray bottles and began having them in every studio last night."

we have been able to spread the message via our Instagram account and sent out emails to our student body with the latest on the corona virus news

As we continue to monitor developments related to the coronavirus it is important everyone do their part to help minimize the potential impact of this emerging public health threat.  While there is currently no vaccine to prevent this virus, these simple steps can help stop the spread:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
