Born in the Dominican Republic, I lived there for nine years before moving to the United States. I majored in Accounting as an undergraduate in 2006 and finished my Masters in Taxation in June 2009. I currently work in the tax practice of a multi-national accounting firm, concentrating primarily on tax compliance for private equity funds.
I stumbled upon Salsa on-2 by accident. Growing up, my shyness always inhibited my dancing at parties. Eventually, I saw a flyer for a three-hour Salsa crash course, and I naively assumed I could learn how to properly dance in those three hours. The style of dance completely captivated me, but as a college student, I could not afford many dance lessons. After college, I concentrated my energy on passing the CPA exams and working on my graduate degree. In 2008, I finally resumed Salsa classes at Piel Canela, in Joe's beginner level classes. At that time, I never imagined I would eventually join his dance company. Piel Canela quickly became my home away from home and provided a much-needed break from my stressful job. I realized that no matter how stressful the day, dancing always puts a smile on my face... and you just can't put a price on that.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the Piel Canela family and I look forward to learning and growing as a dancer. |
