According to my parents, I started dancing before I started walking - it's in my blood. I grew up dancing first in my living room then continued all through high school and college. Throughout the whole time, my passion for dancing salsa grew tremendously.
It was in high school that I learned the style of dancing On 2. Before I knew it, I was performing at local events in the city. I love the thrill and excitement of performing and I just had to keep doing it.
A year into my college life, I met a man that has changed my life forever and given me so many great opportunities and his name was Joe Burgos. While teaching free salsa classes at CCNY, he asked me to audition for his dance company. I did and the rest is history.
I've spent four amazing years at Piel Canela, which I attribute to the friends I've made and the places I've seen. In this company, I have been able to grow as a person and as a dancer – reaching levels, which seemed impossible as young untrained high school student. Currently, I am part of the professional team within the company as well as an instructor and it's a pleasure to be able to teach others the dance that I love.
During the hours when I'm not dancing, I am a full time structural engineer in a consulting firm that specializes in movable bridges. My other pleasures in life are reading, watching tv, listening to music, watching action movies, hanging out with friends, volleyball and hiking.
