Hi my name is Paul Julien. Some call me Julien, Eric, PJ or JP it’s all the same to me. I was born and raised in the Brooklyn, NY. I am Haitian American and a brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Currently I am working on starting my own consulting Firm. I am a family oriented individual and my life is an open book. You just need to know how to read the pages or ask the right questions.
In 1998 I discovered On 2 Salsa dancing and I was amazed at what I saw. All I could think was that I needed to learn how to dance. I took 2 classes at the City College of NY but could not continue because I was working, in school, organizing community service programs and events and traveling and performing in Fraternity Step show competitions. Late in 2006 I began taking a classes a few different places including at CCNY where I met Joe and I started taking classes at Piel Canela in the Fall of 2007.Some of the students suggested that I should join the winter 2008 Recital Team, which turned out to be a wonderful learning experience. After performing with the Recital Team a few times in April 2008, I was invited to join the Student Team.
Salsa offers me a contrast to my busy stress driven life. I use Salsa as an outlet for fun and stress relief. It gives me something to look forward to and helps me get through every day. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Piel Canela Dance Company and family. I look forward to growing as a dancer and maybe one day in the distant future I can become an instructor.
