My name is Miguel Rodriguez (a.k.a. Mikey). Born and raised in Forest Hills, New York, I come from a Puerto Rican household, where Salsa influences my life 24-7. I am a graduate of Pace University, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Systems. I currently work at the New York City College of Technology as an IT Support Assistant.
I have danced Salsa On 2 since August 2004. About a year after starting classes, I joined the Piel Canela Dance Company in October 2005, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I decided to learn to dance Salsa because of my passion for the music and fascination with the different styles of Salsa. It is a big part of my life and I cannot see myself without it. I have listened and moved to the music since birth. Much credit goes to my father, who glued the music to me and taught me everything.
I am grateful to be a part of the PCD Dance Company. I would like to thank Joe and my teammates for the opportunity and the support. I truly appreciate it. The support drives me to continue growing as a dancer, and makes me extremely grateful to be part of this family. This season I hope for the chance to travel as a professional dancer. Although that would be a huge accomplishment, I still know that the journey will not end there. I still have a long way to go as a dancer, and am excited to get there!
