Hello. My name is W. James Jean. I was born in Port-au Prince Haiti. My parent moved to Montreal, Canada when I was very young. Since then, Montreal has become my home, the place where I grew and learned to love and accept winter. In most cases, I am just a “Black polar bear” but the ladies call me “Teddy”. I am a Scientist at Schering-Plough Research Institute for the Drug Discovery Department. I screen more than 2000 new compounds to eventually find a cure for many types of diseases. In contrast to my profession being in science, my hobby lies in Art. I am just a “naughty professor”.
During the day, I am a Scientist and at night I am a Salsero.
My interest in dancing began in NJ where I took some classes with Grissel Ponce and Josue Bonilla Tores also know as the “Salsa Kid”.I became so curious about this style of dancing that I soon decided to learn in NY. Santo Rico became my new home where I learned new fundamentals of Mambo on 2. Since I became passionate about this art, I began teaching salsa for the Schering-Plough Research Institute Ballroom association. All proceeds went to the Kenilworth David Brearly middle school and high school. This activity encouraged me to join a Dance Company called the “PZAZZ DANCERS”.
During a period of 1 ½ years in the PZAZZ dance company and under guidance of “Smiling David”, I have learned the concept of performance. The following is a list of performances.
Presently as a new member of the Piel Canela Dance Company I am ready to learn and take dancing to the next level.
